About Delaware
Delaware, often known as the “First State,” holds a special place in American history as one of the original thirteen colonies and the first state to ratify the United States Constitution. This small but significant state, located on the Atlantic Coast in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States, offers a blend of historical charm, scenic beauty, and a thriving corporate landscape.
Delaware’s historic legacy is celebrated in its charming towns and cities. The state capital, Dover, boasts well-preserved colonial architecture and landmarks, including The Green, a historic public square. Wilmington, the largest city, offers a vibrant arts scene, museums, and cultural festivals.
Crimes Overview
Delaware has a comparable murder rate to the national average but significantly lower rates of rape and assault. Robbery is less of a concern, while kidnapping is slightly higher. Vandalism is a significant issue, but burglary is relatively low. Theft is higher than the national average, and motor vehicle theft is lower. Identity theft is a major concern, being significantly higher than the national average. Drug offenses and weapon law violations also require attention as they surpass the national average.
