About Indiana
Indiana, often referred to as the “Hoosier State,” is a Midwestern state with a rich blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. Known for its friendly communities, thriving cities, and scenic landscapes, Indiana offers a diverse range of experiences for residents and visitors alike.
Indiana holds a significant place in American history. It was home to President Abraham Lincoln during his childhood, and the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial in Spencer commemorates this period of his life. Additionally, the state’s role in the Underground Railroad is celebrated at various historic sites.
Crimes Overview
Indiana has a murder rate equal to the national average, but lower rates of rape, assault, and robbery. Kidnapping rate is higher than the national average. Burglary rate is lower, while arson rate is slightly higher. Vandalism rate is significantly lower. Theft rate is below the national average, and motor vehicle theft rate is also lower. Identity theft rate is notably lower. Drug offenses are a concern, and weapon law violations are slightly higher than the national average.
